just in from housegroup...as ever a challenge....
we were talking about freedom and what it really is and means for us...how do we live it? Ive felt lately that being genuine is so important and that being thankful and giving God the glory is so important...to get the focus off myself...
being free to be selfless and then to use what God gives us to bless and serve others...
God's been challenging me about loosing a grip on material things and to find true fulfillment in Jesus...to not live as the world does...
matt told me about a tribe from Papua New Guinea and of how they came to Britain and how their hosts thought they'd be so impressed by what they were shown around London.......
They came to St pauls and saw and their understanding was that this was were a monument/house had been made to the spirits/gods....
they went to canary wharf and saw that the building was dedicated to money and to represent it...
they were amazed and said..."why is your building for your money bigger than the house for your god?"
It challenged me to think, what is our focus? we think people will be so impressed by money and wealth, where as actually, where is our focus...what is our God? The world's can be wealth, possesions, clothes etc,...what is our focus, what is it that we have in first place? How dangerous it is to place anything in front of God...
our God is all consuming, awesome and to be honoured and revered....
Let's get perspective!!!
